" The paper examines the extent to which the choice of software and database affects the results of the life cycle assessment (LCA) of technologies for removing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from landfill leachate. Three alternative technologies for treating reverse osmosis (RO) concentrate, intended as the final step after mechanical and biological treatment of the leachate, are compared: A1 - plasma reactor; A2 - additional concentration of PFAS with a second RO module before the plasma reactor; A3 - additional concentration of PFAS with a second RO module before the evaporation module, followed by transport of the solid residue for incineration off-site. The analysis was performed with Umberto LCA + Ecoinvent (ReCiPe 2016 in 18 categories and with Неrmalization) and OpenLCA 2.2.0 + ELCD (EN 15804+A2; EF 3.0 in 28 categories and with Неrmalization). Despite the different numerical values obtained and the different profile of the leading categories (toxicity/ecotoxicity and eutrophication dominate in Umberto, while particulate matter and acidification dominate in OpenLCA), the overall ranking is identical: A2 is the most favorable, followed by A1, while A3 has the highest potential impact. In both models, the main impact on the environment is dominated by the electricity used. Despite the vast detailed LCA databases, PFAS are still underrepresented in both models due to the early stage of research into their specific impacts. This indicates a need for research, enrichment, and updating to achieve more reliable LCA assessments for PFAS. Plasma solutions (especially with a higher concentration of the influent) are promising but also require further experimental verification. "
